Since the 14th Five-Year Plan, 42 proactive archaeological excavation projects and over 200 archaeological surveys for large-scale infrastructure projects have been systematically carried out in Xizang. Findings show that the Melongdap and Shanggang sites push back the history of humans first reach to the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau to around 100,000 years ago, filling the research gap in the prehistoric activities on the plateau.
